Cape Vincent's Swallow Wort eradication grant has received a
one year extension and is now receiving applications from the citizens in the
town of Cape Vincent that are interested in participating in the program.

Cape Vincent has authorized personnel to implement the
program although it is unlikely that we will be able to full fill all
requests.  Therefore they will be handled
on a first come first serve basis.  Interested
landowners should complete an application at the Town Clerk's office, 1964 NYS
Rte. 12E, Cape Vincent, NY if they find it on their property.

The Town is asking citizens for help in locating the species
by reporting it to the Town if you find it.

Let’s Pull Together

Whenever there has been a major problem in Cape Vincent the entire town has pulled together to do what

had to be done. It did not matter what your name was, what your occupation was, what your political

view was - EVERYONE pitched in to help.

We recently went through a contentious political process in the Cape during which many people on both

sides worked hard to help the candidate they supported. Again, our Town’s people worked very hard to

achieve what they felt was the desired outcome.

Cape Vincent now has a new Town Board. Some of our citizens think that is very good and others are not

so sure. Regardless of our individual feeling we should once again adopt the Cape Vincent “Let’s Work

Together” attitude, that we have shown so many times in the past and give the new Board our support.

The Board has appointed a committee to review and update the joint Town and Village Comprehensive

Plan and a committee to review and update the Town Zoning Law. Both of these committees are

comprised of people from all over the town and from many different backgrounds. The one thing that

these people all have in common is that they all think that Cape Vincent is worth the hard work that lies

ahead to complete their assigned tasks. Both of these committees are open to the public.

While the core Zoning Law and Comprehensive Plan Committees are established, they still need

constructive input and guidance from businesses and citizens.

The Zoning Law Committee will be asking people from various endeavors to attend the meetings and

discuss how they think zoning is important to the community. These meetings are Tuesday and

Thursday, 1:30 to 4:00 PM in the Recreation Center Board Room.

Citizens are encouraged to attend the meetings, listen to what is going on and offer written constructive

comments. All comments will be addressed by the Committee.

The Comprehensive Plan Committee will meet each Thursday at 4:00 in the Recreation Center Board

Room starting February 16. This committee will be looking at “What Makes Cape Vincent Cape

Vincent” and how to promote our town without losing “What Makes Cape Vincent Cape Vincent”. Our

town is singularly unique and the Comprehensive Plan will capture that uniqueness and establish a

program to maintain it.

The Cape Vincent Local Development Corporation is working diligently to help shape the future growth

of the Town. While they are not specifically rewriting the Comprehensive Plan or Zoning Law, they are

working on a joint Town and Village effort to enhance and promote the growth of Cape Vincent. Their

efforts have resulted in significant improvements and developmental programs to help our Town and

Village.

The LDC meets the fourth Wednesday each month in the Village Community House on Market Street at

6:00 PM. They welcome your attendance and look forward to your input.

Remember the Ice Storm - We All Pulled Together.

Let’s Do It Again!
